Surveys!!!!

Today we worked on surveys. We talked about how surveys and graphs are the same, and different. We said that they both told us information, but they looked very different.

We made up a question each. From this question we asked our friends to answer "Yes" or "No".
We then filled in the survey, putting our friends names under the Yes/No headings.

Some of the questions we created were:

Do you like to go to the movies?
Do you like to play basketball?
Do you like to travel to cities and towns?

Today we continued to look at graphing. We are really good at making and reading graphs. We started off reading graphs at the beginning of the year, and every day, using our weather graphs.

Today we found out what our class's favorite colour is.

7 students liked Blue
7 students liked Red
2 students liked Green

The students also made thier own graphs. They asked thier friends about colours and vegetables.

Say hello to our actors! What a terrific and full day.

Today we worked with our Author of the Month again, Phoebe Gilman. We worked with the book Jillian Jiggs. We each took turns acting out the story, and reading our lines. We had a few different parts: Jillian Jiggs (of course), Mother, Peter, Rachel, and the Narrator. The rest of us added actions and sound effects! What a great time!

Which part were you in our play?

Thanks goes out to the Public Health nurse, who came in to talk about hand washing. We really enjoyed her presentation. Our favorite part was seeing the dirty spots we missed under her special light.

What a busy day! We did so much.

We learned about the environment, and how to save the earth. We had some great ideas about how to save the earth.

Here is what we came up with:

- Don't pollute
- If you cut down a tree, plant a tree
- Recycle: cans, bottles, and paper
- Pick up garbage
- Throw garbage into the trash can
- Don't litter the lakes and streams
- Don't put oil into the water

After we wrote these ideas down, we worked in groups to create a poster about being a friend to the earth.
